Whoa - not many posts here! I am a new member but have had my '68 650 Trophy since 1980. I am currently slowly refurbishing the bike since it was parked in a garage for 27 years. So it is in a partial state of disassembly. But it did run fine before I took it apart.
It needed the obvious things:
- full fluid change
- gas tank, petcock, and carb refurb
- tires (on order)
And now the front forks and main steering head bearing are getting done. I finished the front brake refurb yesterday - the shoes were fine but the lever/spring was sluggish from old calcified grease.
Probably will finish the work in the next 6 weeks. Then the bike will become a fair-weather lunch friend. I'm not into long rides. The refurb is being detailed on the TriumphRat.net site http://www.triumphrat.net/members-restoration-and-rebuild-projects/125865-texjjs-68-650-trophy-refurbish-project.html

| Thanks Willie, I appreciate the help. So far so good. I'll probably order some brit wrenches to make things easier. Once I get it back on the road I'll go to a couple of the Monday night meetings at Opals. |

This was something I thought about doing when I bought the modern classic. Judging from my VW still sitting unmantled, I'm better off going with newer for now. I'll watch your tread on triumphrat. Come on out anytime you like. The bike doesn't have to be finished first, and you can talk about the history and progress. _________________ David Day
